This book had such a potential to be great. The characters were developed, their relationship evolved & I loved the ending. The storyline was torture with the constant reminder of her being a prostitute over & over again. We get it she was a prostitute who was paid for sex. If you could get past her constant belittling of herself, mother & her choices you could enjoy story line.Product details

I wasn't sure I would knowing she was an escort that actually slept with the clients but once I saw where her heart was, Audrey, that is, I quickly directed my POV to giving this book my undivided attention. I loved James, the few times we saw his alpha side was perfect and appropriate, not overboard as in some books. Todd, his brother and their friends, Cole and Jenny, were a sweet bonus as side characters, they made this book come together for that total feel good experience. Hot and steamy, yes. Alpha hot male, older, yes, young, beautiful, sweet heroine, yes. Great story, absolutely. HEA, yes and a great epilogue too! Cliffhanger, thank God, no. Editing issues, none that I can recall, if there were any they were minor. Will I read it again? Absolutely. I recommend this to all. I was not given a copy for review and I am not a friend of this author, this is my first read of hers, my review is genuine.
Ok so yes, this story is full of cliches...still I cannot understand anyone giving this story anything less than 4✮s. I mean, I know we're all uniquely made and what floats my boat might sink yours...what sends you soaring might fall flat for me. But all in all I thought this story was brilliantly told. It gives just enough insight into the stress of a high-end call girl/escort's life and a bit of drama with this particular prostitute. Audrey Reynolds fills the fantasies of men. They use her body and she takes their money and she's only slightly ashamed. But she does what she has to do to survive and provide for her disabled brother. I have to confess I regard these women with admiration even though I don't condone their actions. But for many of them, they do what they gotta do to survive and I think Ms. James brought that out perfectly. I loved Audrey's character. Her desperation. There's depth to her that can be overlooked because of her profession. She's intelligent and driven and committed to her brother and making a better life for him whatever it takes. She has high standards and good morals...which may be hard to believe, but nevertheless true. She's a young woman unaccustomed to comfort or solace. She's never had those things. And then she's faced with a new assignment from her Madam...
James Preston prides himself on reading people well and not underestimating them. It's one of the reasons he's a successful businessman in the billionaire bracket. So when he hires an escort to pose as his girlfriend, James is thrown off his game because she's kind and beautiful, sexy and smart and she surprises him at every turn. And that he cannot have! He didn't want to have to take the time to figure her out (so inconvenient)...but he had no choice if he wanted this charade to work.
Audrey Reynolds is nice, intelligent and witty, and she's a professional escort....fancy name for a hooker. She's gorgeous and kind and even though she's only 22, she's smart beyond her years.
It was supposed to be a simple two week assignment for Audrey and James. No strings...no ties...no games. Simply pretend to be a loving couple for two weeks. Except the whole thing IS a game. I didn't like how quickly these two begin to have "feelings" for each other. Insta-love just never flies with me. I loved their attraction and chemistry, but the sudden emotional part didn't convince me. He's a glacier and she's the sun...she's soft to his hardness and I loved that. And I liked how his formidable walls unintentionally begin to weaken. And right when I thought I had this story all figured out....right on the cusp of yawn.... thinking "here we go again"....(another predictable romance following the usual format)....what did this author do? She knocked me off the sofa onto the floor! She woke me up and switched the game on me. And it was wonderful! Character descriptions are nicely detailed including all the secondary characters. This is first and foremost a romance novel...but it holds some intriguing, slightly nail biting, dramatic suspense.

This is the first book in the series "The Escort Collection", but actually the second in the series I've read.
I was surprised to learn it has become easier for me to swallow the fact that the heroine is a real hooker, not just starting, not just in a fancy escort service, but also "turning tricks on the street" as she called it. Not ideal, but the books in the series start so great they are hard to resist.
So I enjoyed this one too, especially the beginning, although I felt it dragged a little from about the middle.
This book is full of irresistible clichés. She's beautiful and sexy, he's handsome and rich, and their love is strong enough to handle all the curve balls thrown at them.
